I don't mean to be sappy and sentimental, but seeing that it is the last day of 2004 I figure it's legitimate to briefly reflect a bit on the year. As we wrap up 2004, I think back to all of the titles given to this past year.
The Year of Religion. (Religion and religious issues have dominated the media this past year like no other year I can think of...)
The Year of the Documentary. (I've posted on this before and its underpinnings of postmodern ideology).
The Year of...Whatever. ("Whatever" seems to be more and more common in our everyday language, either idicating "nothing matters and everything lacks meaning" or relativity is now seeping out of the pours of our English language).
This year has been given many different monikers. (So, we'll add our own). For the Briggs family this year, it has been the Year of Seeing God's Faithfulness. We've seen God's hand of faithfulness and his fingerprints are smeared all over our lives. We're grateful for his fingerprint smearing.
We hope 2005 is a year where we can see God's faithfulness even more clearly and express that to others...
