I answered the phone last week and heard my editor's voice: "Hey...I'm going to tell you something that will either make your scream or laugh. Ready?"
What a warm greeting on the other end of the phone...
She said that NavPress/TH1NK puts out a unique and cutting edge Bible study series called "Redefining Life" for twentysomethings. They touched on issues such as career, relationships, purpose and identity. This summer they are going to be publishing two studies in the series, one for men and one for women.
"We think you would be a good fit to write this study for the series. Would you be interested in doing this project? Oh...and...by the way, the manuscript would be due December 15th and published this coming summer..."
But after much discussion with Megan we both believe that this would be a great thing to pursue, despite the freakishly short deadline. So, this morning I signed the contract.
But I need your help: I want to write a compelling study for guys, but most men's bible study guides (at least in my own experience) have been pretty lame and irrelevant. It's a small eight-week study. Let me ask you this: if you were to be in a study with other men about issues that men deal with what would you want covered? (And I'd love to hear from the masculine and feminine soul on this one...)
Help me out here...
