Great post ... Makes me think we should approach a lot of things with that kind of open mind and heart ... and not just look to things that will "reinforce what we already hold tightly to."

JR, With as much humility as I can drag out of my egotistical soul, this the biggest need I see in people I meet. For me, the Word messing with me has been so essential to my life since that first day following Him that I can't understand why more people don't rely on it. Everytime WVC preaches it well, my heart just sings. Dallas Willard said in the "Great Omission" that if there is one discipline he would start to build a life in Christ on it would be memorizing scripture. Right now, as I face external crap, Ps 25 "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him. Do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. REFRAIN FROM ANGER AND TURN FROM WRATH. Do not fret, it leads only to evil" and Mt 5 "Do not resist and evil man ... Love your enemies" is messing with me hard.

Regards, Doug
