"The biblical fact is that there are no successful churches. There are, instead, communities of sinners, gathered before God week after week in towns and villages all over the world. The Holy Spirit gathers them and does his work in them. In these communities one of the sinners is called pastor and is given a designated responsibility in community. The pastor's responsibility is to keep the community attentive to God."

I can see why you get along with this guy!!
Yeah, right on. Kinda rips away the pretenses that we so often gather around when we think of church. If the church, as a whole, started viewing themselves as sinners, just think of the impact that would have on our day-to-day relationships. It levels the playing field and the only difference is that we've decided to open our arms to grace and "they" haven't.
Anyway, that's what struck me from that quote. Oh, and the fact that maybe we shouldn't call you a pastor but an attentor?! yeah? new word? maybe not.
